Open Briefing

Open Briefing provides human rights defenders and other civic actors at risk with rapid access to mentoring, capacity building and multilingual resources to improve their safety and security, digital security, and wellbeing and resilience. We also help charities and foundations understand and meet their risk management and duty of care commitments to staff and local partners.

Since 2011, we have supported a wide range of rights-based and humanitarian actors around the world, including in violent environments and restricted civic spaces. Our work both on the ground with defenders, activists, and collectives and with the senior management teams and boards of international organisations and donors gives us a deep understanding of risk at all levels of civil society and across diverse contexts.

Our international and multilingual team is culturally sensitive. All our holistic security consultants are either based in or have extensive field experience across the global south. All also have backgrounds in human rights movements or humanitarian action. Our operating languages are English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Arabic.

Open Briefing is also the creator of the Holistic Security Protocol for Human Rights Defenders and the team behind Frontline Policies.
