About the Program
This is a partnership between the Internet Society Foundation and Nonprofit Builder to support the financial resilience and long-term sustainability of Internet Society chapters around the world. Recognizing the vital role chapters play in advancing digital inclusion and an open internet, the program offers targeted capacity-strengthening resources to help chapters thrive.
Through curated training series, masterclasses, and one-on-one coaching opportunities, the program focuses on core areas such as fundraising, financial management, income generation, and sustainability planning. Sessions are designed to be practical and hands-on, equipping chapter leaders with tools they can immediately apply to their work.
Whether your chapter is just getting started or scaling up ambitious plans, this program is here to meet you where you are — offering both foundational guidance and in-depth support.

PAST EVENTS
Induction Session: Orientation for All Chapters with Nonprofit Builder Team
This introductory session is designed to welcome all Internet Society chapters to the program. During the session, we will share an overview of the capacity-strengthening initiative, the range of services available — including trainings, masterclasses, and one-on-one coaching — and how chapters can access them. Participants will also have a chance to meet the facilitators, ask questions, and learn how to make the most of the opportunities being offered.

Sustainable Sun: Assessing Your Chapter’s Capacity and Sustainability with Jennifer L Butz
A 2-hour facilitated session using the Sustainable Sun tool, a compact and highly effective assessment method to help chapters evaluate their current fundraising and sustainability capacity. This session will not only establish a baseline but also serve as a learning experience for participants.

Peer Learning & Exchange for Building a Shared Foundation with Kubadili
Participants will reflect on their community context, identify key stakeholders, and refine their organizational identity to ensure relevance and clarity. The session introduces strategic tools like OKRs for goal-setting, feedback loops for continuous improvement, and guidance on building a basic income plan. By grounding operations in context and purpose, this session supports chapters in becoming more focused, resilient, and better positioned for sustainable growth.

Organizational Design for Enabling Financial Sustainability with Kubadili
This session will help organizations define clear funding goals, better understand their audiences, and craft innovative value propositions. Participants will explore ways to diversify revenue streams, improve existing products and services, and apply agile practices to adapt to emerging challenges

Income Model Prototyping Toward Mission-Aligned Sustainability with Kubadili
To complement the two completed masterclasses, this facilitated peer-learning session will create space for you to reflect, exchange, and co-create around the theme of income generation. Building on the foundational tools and models introduced earlier, this session will surface real experiences, challenges, and creative solutions from across the network.
Kubadili team will design an engaging and participatory format that encourages chapters to share lessons from their own fundraising journeys, explore income-generating ideas they’ve tested or are considering, and draw inspiration from successful case examples. This peer exchange aims to strengthen collective learning, foster collaboration, and spark new approaches to financial sustainability.

This closing session is an opportunity to bring together all Internet Society chapters for a collective reflection on the journey so far. We will revisit the goals of the capacity-strengthening program, highlight key learnings and accomplishments across trainings, masterclasses, and one-on-one coaching, and explore how chapters have engaged with the support offered. The session will also offer space to share feedback, celebrate progress, and discuss how to carry the momentum forward into future opportunities.
