About FSC

Funder Safeguarding Collaborative is a global network of philanthropic funders committed to driving action to strengthen safeguarding and promote organizational practices that keep people safe from harm.

To be effective, FSC believes that safeguarding measures must take into account the social, economic, cultural, and legal context in which organizations are operating. To help funders provide contextually relevant support to grantees, FSC facilitated Communities of Practice (CoPs) across five countries in Asia and three countries in Africa to increase access to local safeguarding expertise.

The consultants on this platform who have been “liked” by FSC participated in the CoPs were assessed to have a good understanding of the key components of effective safeguarding practice. However, safeguarding is a broad and diverse area, and funders may require service providers to have specific areas of expertise that were not covered during the CoPs. Funders should, therefore, complete their due diligence to ensure that consultants have the specific knowledge and experience required for each assignment.

By working together, FSC and Nonprofit Builder aim to empower organizations to achieve their fullest potential through transformative capacity-building support and foster sustainable impact worldwide.

As a member foundation of the Funder Safeguarding Collaborative (FSC), you have access to a curated directory of safeguarding consultants via the Nonprofit Builder platform. Please note that, in this collaboration, all consultant engagement and communication will take place directly between your organization and the consultant, outside of the platform.

Here’s how the process works:

1. Browse Safeguarding Consultants
   When you log in, you can search and review the profiles of safeguarding consultants available to FSC member foundations.
   
   

2. Contact Consultants
   If you are interested in working with a consultant, use the “Contact” button on their profile page to reach out directly. You can also use the ‘Post a Project’ feature to reach out to a selection of consultants with the specific request, to identify who is interested and what the approach would be.
   
   

3. Arrange Discussions Off-Platform
   All further discussions, scoping, and agreement of work will take place outside of the Nonprofit Builder platform, directly between your organization and the consultant.
   
   

4. Agree on Scope and Terms
   If you and the consultant agree to work together, you will jointly define the scope of work, deliverables, and terms of the engagement.
   
   

5. Engage and Collaborate
   Proceed with your safeguarding project as agreed upon with your chosen consultant.
