NPB-ISOC Chapter Capacity Strengthening Program-2026

About this program

The ISOC Chapter Capacity Strengthening Program is a partnership between the Internet Society and Nonprofit Builder (NPB) designed to strengthen the organisational capacity, leadership, and long-term sustainability of Internet Society Chapters around the world.

Internet Society Chapters play an essential role in advancing digital inclusion, strengthening local Internet ecosystems, and championing an open, globally connected Internet. Yet many Chapters operate with limited resources, volunteer-led structures, and increasing expectations around governance, sustainability, accountability, and impact. The program exists to help Chapters build the systems, skills, and confidence needed to navigate these challenges and grow sustainably.

Building on the success of the 2025 pilot program the 2026 edition expands support into additional organisational development areas identified by Chapters as critical to their effectiveness and resilience.

The 2026 program covers four practical training tracks:

  • Impact Measurement

  • Mediation & Conflict Resolution

  • Leadership & Organisational Governance

  • Financial Management

Each track is delivered through four interactive online workshops held weekly on Thursdays at 13:00 UTC, with live interpretation available in French and Spanish.

Sessions are designed to be practical, participatory, and immediately applicable within the Chapter context — combining expert facilitation, peer learning, reflection, and real-world tools.

Whether your Chapter is newly established or scaling, the program is designed to meet you where you are and support stronger, more sustainable organisational foundations.

COMPLETED TRAININGS

Track 1 — Impact Measurement with Paula Richardson

Paula Richardson - Salanga | LinkedIn

Many Chapters collect data but struggle to turn it into meaningful learning and communication. This track builds practical measurement capacity from the ground up — covering theory of change, indicator development, MEL systems, data collection in low-resource settings, and communicating impact clearly to members, funders, and partners.

By the end of the track, participants will have a practical MEL framework they can begin applying within their Chapter immediately.

Topics include conflict styles, de-escalation approaches, structured dialogue, mediation basics, and practical communication tools.

The facilitator previously designed and delivered a governance program for Internet Society Chapters in 2025 and brings direct familiarity with the network’s realities and opportunities.
