Monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) for advocacy, lobbying, campaigning and community engagement by Bonnie Chiu and Timothy Cheng [Course details]

Non-profit sector NGOs who adopt and embrace these strategies and tactics, however, often find monitoring, evaluation and learning challenging. For instance, change can rarely be attributed to a single source. In this practical course, participants will learn the range of MEL methods most suited for influencing and systems-level work, particularly in the area of energy transition. This course is built on fundamentals of systems change thinking, and the trainer’s practical experience of implementing MEL systems within advocacy NGOs, and with funders with a focus on climate and energy. Format: The course will be organized in four sessions of 3 hours each, scheduled every other week to allow participants to read, reflect and prepare some work between sessions. Most of the
work will take place in the online sessions.
